LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Mike Nofs was recently honored as one of four Michigan lawmakers to receive the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA) Legislator of the Year Award.
Nofs was honored for his leadership, commitment and dedication to improving Michigan manufacturing’s competitiveness through reform of the state’s Personal Property Tax (PPT) and his continued hard work to ensure reliable, competitive energy options for Michigan. The MMA said that Nofs has long been a knowledgeable leader in energy policy, and his latest efforts will improve an industry that is central to Michigan’s status as the Comeback State.
“When I ran for office, my motto was ‘Jobs first, Jobs now,’” said Nofs, R-Battle Creek. “I am thrilled to be recognized by the providers of the most jobs in our state. I feel as though I’ve helped realize that goal.”
Other legislators honored at the 2015 MMA Legislative Reception on Sept. 29 included Sen. Wayne Schmidt, R-Traverse City; Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, R-Columbus Twp.; and Rep. Aric Nesbitt, R-Lawton.
