Sen. Mike Nofs given oath of office during ceremony at Capitol

LANSING—State Sen. Mike Nofs, R-Battle Creek, was sworn in during a ceremony at the state Capitol with Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert P. Young, Jr. administering the oath of office.

Nofs was joined at the ceremony by son Michael John Nofs, his wife Julie, and their children Emie and Owen; sister Melody Jenner; sister Michelle Hover; and friends Patti Miller and Sharlie Jones.

“I am grateful for the honor that residents in Calhoun and Jackson counties have given me to again serve as their state senator in Lansing,” said Nofs. “I look forward to a fresh start and a new approach to reinvent our great state. We have the opportunity in this legislative session to make positive, lasting change to help reform state government and spur job growth, and I am eager to get back to work.”

Nofs will serve as chair of the Senate Energy and Technology Committee, vice chair of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee, and as a member of the Economic Development and Families, Seniors & Human Services committees during the 96th legislature.
