Nofs comments on the 2011 State of the State address

LANSING―State Sen. Mike Nofs issued the following statement on Wednesday, following Gov. Rick Snyder’s first State of the State address.

“Governor Snyder made it very clear to all Michiganians that we must think and act differently if we truly want to reinvent our state. The status quo is no longer acceptable,” said Nofs, R-Battle Creek. “State government has to rethink the way it operates and focus on getting the most value out of each and every tax dollar collected and service provided.

Just like our hard working families are doing, government must carefully evaluate where it gets its money and how it spends it.”

Nofs also said he appreciated the governor’s commitment to bringing jobs back to Michigan.

“Our number one focus as legislators must be job creation and helping to get our fellow citizens back to work. It’s clear Governor Snyder understands this, and that he’s prepared to work with us do what is necessary to accomplish that goal,” Nofs said. “The governor is a proven leader, investor, and job provider, and he knows what it takes to turn things around. He has assembled an excellent team of skilled and experienced professionals and is willing to utilize the best ideas and strategies, regardless of their origin. I am confident that together we can get our state back on track. Now it’s time to get to work.”
